If you’ve sent out cold outreach emails to customers and are disappointed by the number of responses you are receiving, don’t worry.

There are a few easy changes that you can make to your emails to supercharge your click-through rates (or CTR) and get customers replying to your call to action!

Here are three of our tried-and-tested favourites.

1. Have a clear CTA

A call-to-action (or CTA) is the action that you include in your email, encouraging your customer to take the next step. This can be replying to your email, arranging a meeting or clicking on an attachment.

You want to make your CTA as obvious as possible – now is not the time to be subtle!

Also, avoid giving customers more than one CTA. This can result in something called ‘choice paralysis’ where customers can’t choose between the options, so they end up completing none of them.

A single CTA can increase click-through rate by an incredible 371%!

2. Keep the design of your email simple

Imagine that someone sends you a super-long email with lots of images. The chances are that you won’t read it all, or even worse, delete it straight away!

The best cold outreach emails are simple and compelling. Keep your copy short, avoid images unless they add anything to your email and use white space to make your email easy on the eye.

The aim of each sentence in the email is to get your prospect to read the following sentence, all the way through to the call to action at the end.

3. Test and make changes as you go

Being stubborn works wonders in sales… many of the best salespeople we know have a tenacious streak!

However, you need to be flexible when it comes to your prospecting emails.

Look at your stats and make changes as you go. If you find that your click-through rate is low, make some small changes and see if this has an impact. That way, you can see what resonates with your customers.

A/B testing is your friend too. Try sending two batches of emails with one different factor, for example a different subject line or a slightly amended CTA. This will help you identify what works best.
