Email marketing is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways of bringing in new business, but crafting the perfect cold email is an art form!

Here are three of our top tips to increase the odds of getting a response from your prospect.

1. Offer value

If you do people a favour, they are more likely to do a favour for you. By offering value, your prospective customer is more likely to reciprocate.

For example, if you offer merchandise, provide a mock-up of what your prospect’s product could look like. If you provide digital marketing services, offer a mini report detailing how they could improve their website or social media

2. Customise your content

The more you customise your email, the more likely your prospect is to keep reading. Even including the customer’s name is an improvement on ‘Dear Sir/Madam’!

One of our favourite ways to customise a cold email is to include a few ways you know the person. Did you meet them at a trade show? Are you connected on LinkedIn? Do you have a mutual friend or colleague in common? This will help endear them to you.

3. End well

You want to draw the prospect in with a strong opener, but you also want a clear call to action to get your recipient to take the next step.

An excellent way to do this is to end on a question. This will encourage the customer to act and let them know the next step in the sales process.

For example, you could say, “When would be a good time to call?” or “Can I send you a copy of our whitepaper?”

Not getting the results you want from cold emailing? Practice using different copy and structure to see what resonates with your customers and overtime it will pay off. Want to leave this to the experts? Get in touch with us today, we’d love to help.
